It's In My Blood Awareness Walk & 5K Run

Please join us on Sunday August 10, 2025 for the 3rd Annual It's In My Blood Awareness Walk & 5K Run at Delaware Park in downtown Buffalo!

Bleeding and clotting disorders are complex lifelong inheritied medical conditions which can have serious,sometimes life threating impacts on those affected. We educate patients and families, empowering them to take control of their care and better understand all the options they have available. We host social gatherings where patients and families come together to network, build friendships and share stories - while discovering they are not alone. We provide financial assistance to improve patients quality of life including scholarships. We even advocate for pateints on local,state and national levels, including organizing annual lobbying days in Albany and Washinton D.C.

Thank you for participating! The money you raise will go a long way  to improve the quality of life of those with a bleeding or clotting disorder.   



START/FINISH
The event will take place at Delaware Park in downtown Buffalo. Runners will enjoy a scenic run/walk through the park finishing near St. George Orthodox Church. The 5K starts at 9am and is a two loop course with the start line located a short 5 minute walk from the finish line (VIEW MAP). There will be one water station and bottled water will be provided to all participants at the finish line. The 1.75 Mile Awareness Walk will start and finish at the same location and walkers will complete one loop around the park beginning at 10am.

REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP
Online registration will remain open right up until race day. Packet pickup will take place at the finish line located near St. George Orthodox Church from 7:30am until the start of each race. Register by Friday August 1st for guaranteed event shirt in your requested size. A small quantity of extra shirts will be ordered and distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis until they are gone. Participants will also receive a slingpack cooler while supplies last!

Virtual Registration Option
Can't make the race... Participate virtually! Simply sign up for the Virtual Race option and you get to choose the location and time to get out on your own and run/walk your 5K between 8/1/25 and 10/1/25. Feel free to use the FREE IYR Virtual App to track and score your run. You will also be able to manually enter your finish time directly to the IYR Results Page starting on 8/1/25 and ending on 10/1/25. We will automatically mail out your event shirt the week after the race (Continental USA only for shipping).



POST RACE CELEBRATION
The post race celebration and awards ceremony will take place at the finish line after the race. Participants will enjoy a complimentary lunch provided by The Cheesy Chick food truck along with bottled water, music, and more.

PARKING
There will be plenty of free parking at the Buffalo Outer Harbor a short walk from the start/finish line.

AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
Trophies will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female 5K finishers. Age group winners will also be announced and presented with a gift item TBD. All runners can print custom certificates and view finish line photos from the results page after the race.

14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and older.

CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, shelter-in-place, limit on social gatherings, etc), we want runners to know up front that we reserve the right to reschedule the event OR convert this to a virtual 5K race. There will be no refunds.

TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Professional timing and finish line services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
